Diane Fienstein should just switch parties along with Lieberman. She voted for this "the GOP is in trouble again we need a distraction" flag burning bs an in doing so basically tried to hand a stupid issue over to GOP and help them stay in power. The republicans cry for freedom of speech and don't want to be controlled by "pc" sensitivities, when they are denying blacks and gays equality and freedom, and are insulting the dignity of illegal immigrants and poor people who keep america running, but when it comes to a piece of fabric that doesn't shed blood, get sick, or die in war or suffer from poor education or hunger, etc. they get all up in arms. I'm burning a flag tonight on the patio and maybe on July 4, to celebrate the defeat of this bs. My two uncles, both African American, one gay, who fought for this country didn't fight for this bs.

WPost 062806: WASHINGTON, June 27 — A proposed Constitutional amendment to allow Congress to prohibit desecration of the flag fell a single vote short of approval by the Senate on Tuesday, an excruciatingly close vote that left unresolved a long-running debate over whether the flag is a unique national symbol deserving of special legal standing.
Feinstein (D-CA), Yea. Lieberman (D-CT), Nay

Even Lieberman (R-Conn-man) had a momentary flash of good sense to vote against it.

In order to get the GOP out of control, we need to get the GOP out of the powerful upper echelon positions of the Democratic party.
