A power-hungry predator with or without religious garb is a menace. A live and let live person with or without religious identification rarely causes trouble. So you get more malice and dead bodies over 1000 years out of the Catholic Church and the Communist Party than you get out of Mennonites and humanist astrophysics professors. It explains most of the Bush administration's practices. The examples are legion. Following people’s conduct and measuring it against their hunger for power will yield more useful results than measuring it against their professed beliefs.

It never really happened. Christians say we need a savior, since those people in the garden were disobedient. Since the Adam & Eve story never really happened, we DO NOT need a savior.
