But T.,

Why do we labour under the assumption that faith = spiritual maturity [let alone maturity of any kind]?

Wisdom? Now there's another big word.

Duh! They understand.

I'm hopeful for the sake of their family and their child that the legal bits have been well documented.

I've got the experience of feeling distanced and disenfranchised from my kids in the wake of hetero divorce. Even with the assurances that both parents retain nominally equal rights and responsibilities, it only works out in the best interests of all if all involved are committed to that.

So, I'm concerned but hopeful for Heather.

The huge unknowns in the Mary/Heather/baby picture are due to the fact that they're being appropriately private, and so it's impossible to guess all of the details. Will they do a temporary relo to a friendly state? Is the baby the result of IVF using an egg from Heather? What sort of legal commitments have been made between the moms-to-be, or between them and their families?

As you point out, T, money buys access to legal experti, the best of whom can research things fully to understand the law and craft creative documents.

It's certainly a Republican approach to family health: Finding answers for just us, not justice for all.

<em>"he thinks Mary will make a fine mother?" </em>

Well, she has brought a child into this world with the express purpose of depriving that child of one of its parents....

That doesn’t seem to be a very good start?
