Amen and amen!

Along the lines of gay people being a gift from God -- a lesbian friend of mine, who is Methodist, told me about a friend of hers who was at a statewide convention for the United Methodist Church. They, like all the other mainline Protestant churches, have been tearing themselves apart over the issue of the ordination of LGBTs. At this convention, her friendly offered a sarcastic motion that the convention pray to God to stop giving gay people vocations to ordained ministry. A number of people came up to him and talked about what a great idea his motion was -- that would solve all the problems.

Those of us who are Christian should thank God for all those people who are hard for us to love -- whether because of who those people are, or because of who we are who have a hard time loving.
