The fight for justice in Virgina was lost, much to the shame of reasonable straight citizens. The embeding into our state constitution of such dark -age thinking was painful and won't be easy to un-do.

Our discussion on the subject on Barticles was passionate and perplexing to me. As a heterosexual, married for 43 years, I could not understand the reasoning behind the religious objectors. The examples of Christ in accepting all people and loving them, regarding a prostitute or an influential person as equally worthy of love seemed to contradict their intolerant attitudes. I still don't get it.

I agree that the extreme religious right is not just an enemy of gays, but a dangerous enemy to us all. They teach intolerance and hatred, not love and good-will. They wish no one well but themselves and their devout followers. Not so different from Muslim extremists as we would like to believe. It is all about power and control, whether by Imman or Evangalist.

As gay folk we comprise only about 8-10% of the population. Within our fold we run the gauntlet from atheiest to far right evangelical christian (I spose its a macochist thing). We will never be able to mobilize or create infrastructures wgich will facilitate our goals within the framework of our current society. If we wish to visit our spouses, and I love my man more than anything else in the world, we have to THINK smarter to acheive our equality.

We must employ the path of minimal resistance, yet do so by any means necessary; and though I personally have a distaste in violence, a real culture war is coming...the current establishment respects only two virtues, power and money.

GAYS MUST FIGHT FOR THEIR RIGHTS AND POOL THEIR FINANCIAL RESOURCES.

When a hospital denies you visitation rights, make them pay or bleed. When enough pockets are empited and enough noses bloodied, then and only then will the breeders step aside!!!

PS
T, I've read your blog of and on for about a year and although we may differ on certain issues I am proud to call you brother!!!
