This whole issue makes me want to cry with frustration every time I read about it, though our mainstream media overlooks it *all* the time and fails to put forward an adequate critique. Thank you for doing just that, for formulating the words and arguments that I think but don't have time/ability to make.

The use of one middle eastern population's irrational, superstitious, ancient and immoral laws as a reference point within out legal system, taking priority over any other views, beliefs etc. (including those from the many cultures who have *not* condemned homosexuality throughout time) makes a mockery of the idea that the U.S. has a true separation of church and state or can, in any way, claim to be the 'home of the free.' How sad.
