Happy Xmas

I’m taking a blog break until sometime after the holiday, and just spending that focusing on my family. I’ll be back here sometime between Dec. 26th and New Year’s Day.

In the meantime, I don’t have any eloquent holiday/year-end message. So I’ll leave you with my favorite song this time of year, which pretty much says it all.

May you and yours have a happy and safe holiday, and enter the new year with renewed hope. And so may we all.

    • I admit it. I'm a bit disappointed not to be among the nominees for the Best LGBT Blog in the 2008 Weblog Awards, but I blog a lot less often than I used to.  Hell, I'm probably have the blogger I used to be. But at least some of the blogs I write for (when I write) have been nominated: The Bilerico Project and Pam's House Blend. Blabbeando, another great blog, is also nominated. Check them out, and cast your vote.

    • Not the best way to kick off the new year, but I won't be posting anything today. I've got a few things I'm working on, so there will be more to come. No matter how frustrating it is not to have time to make writing a priority, I cant give it up. Writing is as necessary to me as breathing. So, like a drowning man, I keep struggling to the surface...

    • Finally, something trickles down from Wall St.

    • If you're against capital punishment, there's at least one bright spot in the economic downturn. Executions are at a 14-year-low, in part because of the costs involved in the legal process leading up to execution.

    • I can't believe this story is still churning. Part of me wants to yell "Enough, already!" But part of me also wonders what else might be uncovered. Oh, wait. The "smoking gun" is another photograph. A few, actually. The suggestion is that she wore a fake baby belly and, I guess, was dumb enough to go out without it and let herself be photographed. OK. That's not a stretch. But neither is it a stretch that a 44 year old woman might have a Down's Syndrome baby. She's much more likely to do so than a 16-year-old...

    • Mark this day on your calendar: August 4, 2009. It may not all happen on that day, but it will mark 9 months since November 4, 2008: the day Barack Obama defeated John McCain in the presidential election. So, that  would be "zero day" for the Obama baby boom.

    • Well, I'd hope so. Anyone stupid or careless enough to put an uzi inthe hands of an eight-year-old ought to be charged with something. The D.A. looking into "whether anyone committed a reckless or wanton act" by allowing the child to fire a weapon. Oh, I'd say that qualifies as reckless and wanton. If it doesn't, then nothing does.

    • I admit it. My first thought when I saw this was, "Honest, officer. I don't know what happened. I totally meant to hit the brakes. I guess my foot just slipped."
