Well, that clears it up! Being gay ain't nature or nurture, it's a "demonic spirit!"

Of course, if you're Christian but not Roman Catholic, according to this Pope, you're not a real Christian anyway, so might as well get in some practice at demonic sex before you burn in the fires of Hell, I guess.

Meanwhile, "Ungodly sex allows our spirit to be penetrated" proves yet again that these religious authoritarians got some serious issues. Maybe if they had better sex themselves, they'd leave everyone else alone? At least a little bit?

I've often written it before, but these people don't want equal rights, which they already have, they want power over others, including people who don't even belong to their church. Hey, if you could make decisions for yourself (a crucial element of the New Testament, actually) you might choose something they don't like! And then, where would we be? With demonic sex! Hot, hot, demonic sex! Mmm. (Do ya have to be gay to partake? Surely it's possible to be straight and still earn damnation!)

I'm having trouble with the term "Ungodly sex" -- from which I ask, what exactly is "Godly sex"? I would think most people would agree, God does not perform sex acts; Jesus was the product of immaculate conception -- where there is no sex involved. Therefore, if "Godly sex" is likely no sex at all. The concept of "Ungodly sex" applies to any sexual act homo- and heterosexual. To associate "Ungodly sex" with homosexual sex (most likely male anal intercourse) reflects the Pope's intrinsic homophobic and bigot nature

As far as exorcism? Please... someone has watched too much Hollywood-made horror movies.

The Pope also claims that traditional (i.e. heterosexual) institution of family instills values that promotes peace in the world; any one who is hostile to that institution, even unknowingly (i.e. homosexuals) threatens peace. It is such a ridiculous claim -- since those who advocate violence, conflict and war are all heterosexuals who are vehemently anti-homosexual.

The sad part about all of this is, one of the most powerful and popular religion in the world is the led by a bigoted homophobe, while the most powerful nation in the world is led by an idiot. To borrow comments made in John Armstrong's book, God vs. the Bible:

Sectarian atrocities are not, as Christian and Muslim apologists like to claim, unusual occurrences brought on by those who don’t understand the “peaceful” nature of their religion. They are the inevitable consequences of believing that your religion serves a perfectly good god and that the only other power is a devil who seeks to destroy that religion. This worldview creates an inherently paranoid faith that will literally demonize all infidels and apostates.

I thought the modern party line was that the Vatican sanctions exorcisms only as a symbolic palliative (i.e., a placebo) for the uneducated and illiterate who are convinced that a mentally ill family member is posessed, so long as the family agrees to seek mental health care as well.
