Obama Newsflash

This just in. Obama is not Jesus. Or Buddha, or Krishna, or any other deity or near-deity. If he’s elected, he may opt to walk instead of ride (as some presidents have in the past) following his swearing in, but even if he does he won’t be stepping out on the Potomac. And the fare at any inaugural dinner will probably be the usual “rubber chicken,” not loaves and fishes. That is all. Now, I’m gonna go answer that knock at the door…

  So, Obama still sneaks the occasional cigarette? Eh. I’m not that concerned. Given the stresses of his job, if he only grabs an occaional cigarette (having been a habitual smoker in the past), he’s doing pretty good. It’s an extremely hard habit to break.

  It occurs to me lately, that I spend more time reading and promoting other people’s writing and ideas than I do working on my own. The result is that I spend most of my time helping others become more successful at what I want to do myself. I suppose I’m generating good karma of a sort. But does that mean I have to wait until the next lifetime for it to be my turn?
