What are you supposed to do? Elbow your way through and shove people out of the way like you're the king of all things? I hold doors for anyone that approaches a door at the same time as I! And I'm just a weak, wilting GIRL! (and a limping one with a cane at that!) I am *still* trying to teach this little gem to my kids now that they are old enough to physically hold the door without it closing on their fingers. I make them give up seats on public transport for anyone 'grown up' or obviously infirm or impaired, but I don't always myself. Since I'm already gimpy and unbalanced, I take it on a case by case basis, how much the other person seems to need it vs. how steady I think I can be if I stand. It seems like the world would be a much better place for all involved of we ALL took a moment to consider other people during our day, even if it's just when passing through a door! *boggles*
