I had to do a lot of civil rights era research for a literary project. And back in the day, lots of white kids weren't attending school in protest because of the Brown vs. Brd. of Ed decision. Of course, it was only the parent's option to keep their kids from school. I'm sure if the kids were allowed to do their own thing, they wouldn't mind having a black friend, or gay friend.
I called the Alliance Defense Fund who has been the defender of a boy who led one of the counter protests do Day of Silence. That it marks the very real threats that are part of the lives of gay youth and that this anti gay protest was in extreme bad taste and animus as an anti Semitic remark on Shoah (Day of Rememberance).
Guess what? The attorney didn't know what Shoah was. So I told him. Then I told him about the suicides and outright violence that affects ALL children. Even those just suspected of being gay or who have beem marked with an anti gay epithet. So being gay was'nt the problem, ANTI GAY sentiment was. The very sentiment that HE defended. It wasn't so free speech if young lives pay such a terrible price.
And why isn't their Christian protest consistent with harassing people suspected of all the other issues that offend Christian values?
He asked me if I had a law degree, which I don't.
And then he hung up on me without answering the questions.
The AFA is making bigot bait out of children and it IS despicable and dangerous. The thing is...a morally grounded person would know the difference and care about it.
And this is a quote of my own invention. "Those that are speaking and owning the real truth, are the ones who are at most risk for speaking it."

Nah, I think they just want another excuse to add another holiday -- a day of absence to plan how to murder even more of their gay fellow students.

Lisa, I think you should crush his nuts with a baseball bat, castrate him, then lynch him. It's not hate crime right? He made the first move to harass you and to attempt to commit a sinful act -- all else fails you can use the straight-panic defense. :-P

I work with a "suckabee" fan who strongly opposes any form of hate crime bill... one day while defending his side saying how uncomfortable it is for him when "all these gay guys come on to him all the time" ( can you say closeted ) and he feels he should be able to kick their a## if they do. But on the flip side he did not feel as I do... I think that if we can get beat-up, killed etc... than next time some strait guy hits on me I should be able to pull out a gun and shoot him... as LESBIANS don't like BOY's ... and it makes me VERY uncomfortable when they hit on me... Apparently Suckabee jr doesn't feel that way and " thats not fair"
So I guess my question is.... Is it yet another strait right that the lgbt don't get to benefit from, a sexist right that women don't get to benefit from, or can I shoot em??
