You love them inspite of their dunderheaded traits, and sometimes because of what you know they can be. If you love them enough, you will help them become what you know they can be.

You can love your country like that brother or cousin who can’t seem to stay out of trouble, or you know is heading down the wrong path — you love them no matter what, but you still chide them for what’s being done wrong and plead with them to get on the right path.

America is kind of like that relative who makes you cringe on a regular basis. You love them inspite of their dunderheaded traits, and sometimes because of what you know they can be. If you love them enough, you will help them become what you know they can be.
