It’s pretty hypocritical of him to say that he believes “both parents are important in the success of a family”, when he himself has divorced his first wife, raising his own biological children in a broken family (by his own definition). Then he turn around and adopts a girl from Bangladesh, again, raising the child in a broken family (again, by McCain’s definition) without either of her biological parents. So, WTF is McCain talking about when he said he believes that “both parents are important”?

I agree with McCain - both parents are important. Both I and my children's other mother are important.

We do not need courts and politicians to determine who is or is not a parent or should be a parent. Nor should we look at sexual orientation or gender identity to determine if a person would be a fit parent.

I know children reared by gay, lesbian and trans parents. The children are happy, well cared for and healthy physically and emotionally. We need to get over defining catagories of people who are acceptable to care for children and get on with the business of actually caring for them. The more quickly a child can get into a permanent home with loving parents the more likely you are to have a healthy child.
