The made-up note at the top brings my mind to a different topic regarding President Obama's inauguration.... My partner looks at Obama's election with mixed feelings. Granted, he sees the momentous time in history of electing a black man to the Presidency of United States. However, he also sees how the "white man" (a.k.a. GWB) has screwed things up so badly with the war and economy then leaving it to the black man to clean up the mess.

There is a lot of doubt how well any person can clean up the mess that Bush made. The worry for my partner, is that Obama (and consequently, black folks) would be seen as incompetent in spite of the difficulties. From this angle, it seems to be yet another hurdle for black folks to jump through in a similar way that the Tuskegee airmen participated in a program designed for them to fail.

From another angle, the election of Obama isn't really a vote for the black man as much as it is a vote against the incumbent. Would Obama even have a chance if the situation isn't nearly as dire as they are?
