I find it hard to believe when I read someone essentially say, "This KoolAid is too sweet. You have something to add to it that smells like bitter almond tax cuts for business?"

The economic situation, and the bailout, is mind-numbing. I find myself in a hard position. I don't want to minimize the enormity of the situation or the real and painful hardships being faced by many folks who find themselves out of work--a growing number of my friends included. And at the same time, whenever I watch the news, I don't hear the newscasters, I hear a groaning, guttural, unceasing cry of agony ... an economy, a country, perhaps a world, forced beyond reason to live and work at an unsustainable pace. Amid the panic of prognosticators, I hear a quiet murmur, "This is not right."

We find ourselves in a nervous time and yet we're scrambling to piece back together the system which brought us here in the first place. I ask myself--and anyone who will listen--is another way possible?
