The use of "I" instead of "me" is a misdirected and misinformed attempt to appear elitist on the part of many users of this ungrammatical substitution. To me this is no honest mistake, but rather some cross between and among an affectation, pomposity, superior certainty, and woeful ignorance. I exclude our brilliant young president (and many others) from all of the above. Poor guy just caught the expression like a cold. It is absolute bliss to be able to listen to more than four seconds of a presidential address without wincing at the abuse of the English language.
