Found in my inbox this morning, from my hosting service.

To the abuse team at XXX.com.

My name is Greg King. I am the father of Lawrence King. My son was
murdered in his classroom in February of 2008 in Oxnard California.

I am writing to you to initiate a Digital Millennium Copyright Act
(DMCA) complaint against a client of yours,
http://www.republicoft.com/

That website is displaying pictures of my son that are not authorized
for display. The author of that site harvested the pictures from my
son's tribute website at http://www.rememberlarry.com

Those photos were taken by and owned by me. The photo gallery on my
son's website clearly states "All photographs on this page are
copyright protected and may not be used without the express written
permission of the King family."

Your client is using my son's likeness and copyrighted materials to
advance his beliefs without permission of the copyright holder. I
insist that he remove such copyrighted materials immediately.

Your client is also plagiarizing Newsweek Magazine and the Ventura
County Star newspaper by offering direct quotations from their printed
material and blog entries in response therein. I have taken the
liberty of including their abuse departments of this copyright
infringement as well.

I request that you take whatever action is needed to ensure your
client discontinue his unlawful usage of material he does not have
permissions to use.

I have copied my attorney and requested read-receipt on this email to
ensure a that your organization can not claim ignorance.

With respect,

Gregory King

I just wanted to thank you for this. It's been profoundly frustrating to me how much of the discussion has been framed by uncritical acceptance of the defense claim that McInerney was sexually harassed by King.

Thank you, Terrance. Thank you for writing such a wonderful article. Thank you for spending so much time and effort on making it everything it should be and has to be. Thank you for opening yourself and your life to us, sharing so openly for the benefit of the world. Thank you for clarifying so many things, some I certainly didn't expect. Thank You.

As I read this it all broke my heart. I remember when Larry was killed and I could not get the attitudes then. Or now really. It took me back to the mid 80's when my daughters had a friend who was very gay. He swished (no insult intended) around the neighborhood. He was happy and sweet and incidentally black. He came to the house numerous times and even my red neck sons couldn't help but like him. I am glad to report Avery had much better luck way out here in North Carolina, as my daughter said she had seen him a few months ago. Still black, gay, alive and happy. I guess we should thank all our lucky stars Avery didn't live in progressive California.
