My rent is $1600 a month or $19000 a year.
My rental contract is 20 pages long
The US spends $2,000,000,000,000 a year on health care
The Republican health care plan is 4 pages long.
My rental contract is 5 times longer than their entire healthcare proposal.
That's a joke!!!

Very extensive collections of news bites!

The sad reality seems to be that there is a considerable portion of the population that believes in the over simplistic notion that being ambitious, working hard and being a "good" person is all that is necessary for the success and happiness of the person and the country. If everyone would just get on board and do their part, everything would be fine.

The realities regarding people working in jobs where they can't afford insurance, where they are ineligible for insurance plans or where they experience devastating loss of health are always seen as extreme examples that are "over blown". When I am in discussion with some individuals, I see that they have a different interpretation of reality and simply do not believe information that does not fit with their view of the world. I believe that these are the majority of those opposing the reforms and that the truly selfish are a smaller portion of the population.

That being said, it is an incalculably difficult task to convince those who see reality differently that something about their reality is not "correct". The issue is dogmatic at that point and only the shaking of the earth can change opinions in that situation. After all, if a person has not been raised to put themselves in the shoes of others, it is not something they will do on their own.
