Here are some of the people writing about some of the stuff I wish I had time to write about today.

  • Children used to be scared of the dark – now they fear failure
I can’t sincerely tell my children there is nothing to be afraid of in life. But I can say that fear is, mostly, useless.
  • Op-Ed Columnist: On Same-Sex Marriage, Catholics Are Leading the Way
Ireland confirms it: Traditionally Roman Catholic countries are among the friendliest to gays.
  • The countries where gay men are the happiest
Unsurprisingly, a new survey shows that gay men are happiest in those welcoming locations. Planet Romeo, an Amsterdam-based dating and community site, collaborated with the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz in Germany to carry out an online survey of 115,000 gay men around the world. They combined rankings on public opinion, public behavior and life satisfaction – how gay men feel about society’s view on homosexuality, how gay men feel they are treated by other people, and how satisfied gay men are with their own lives, respectively – into one worldwide ranking on gay happiness.
  • Condemning police violence doesn’t mean we don’t care about other violence
We pay lots of attention when police kill unarmed black people — and we should — but do we care as much when black people kill each other? We do, and it is ok to care about both at the same time.
